Light Meters
New Field Scout Light Meters
Hand Held Light Meters
![]()
Measure the energy that drives plant growth. Glass or plastic materials used in greenhouses may only allow 50% to 90% of the sun’s light to reach your plants. Field Scout Light Meters measure UV radiation (250-400nm); Quantum light/photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) from 400-700nm, and light levels in Foot-Candles.
External Sensors and Meters

The External Light Sensor Meter attaches to all Spectrum light sensors, which come with 6ft (2m) cables. Plug one of the light sensors into the meter and start measuring UV, Quantum Light or Solar Radiation.
New for 2008, Spectrum adds new light sensor bars to our existing light sensor options. The 3 Sensor Quantum Bar and the 6 Sensor Quantum Bar sensors easily average light readings across greenhouse benches.
All Spectrum light sensors feature cosine correcting diffusion disks to ensure the greatest aggregate accuracy when used to measure 24 hour incident light such as for Daily Light Integral (DLI)
Red & Far Red Light Meters
![]()
Plants use the Red/Far Red light ratio to determine how crowded they are, and grow tall or full accordingly. This is relevant to understanding plant populations of row crops, spacing of greenhouse plants, and the impact of shade on golf greens. In the past, Red/Far Red measurement required expensive spectroradiometers or sensors, and post-measurement computation.
Now affordably available in an easy to read, hand-held unit the Field Scout Red/Far Red Meter displays the red/far red ratio on the LCD screen, as well as actual readings for the 660nm and 730 nm sensors.
