Water conductivity probe salinity data logger Onset HOBO U24

The Importance of measuring conductivity of water

Conductivity, or the measure of water’s ability to carry an electrical current, is affected by the presence of pollutants or salts. The purer the water, the lower the conductivity will be. As demand for water conductivity monitoring grows, so does the need for instruments that make the process faster, cheaper, and more accurate.
Underwater data loggers are the instruments of choice for researchers and resource managers because of their 24/7 operation, high accuracy, ease-of-use, and computer-based analysis and reporting capabilities.

Onset HOBO® U24 fresh and saltwater conductivity data logging probes

The Onset HOBO® U24 fresh and saltwater conductivity data logger probes can substantially reduce the cost of measuring water conductivity/salinity and temperature. These data loggers measure and record both conductivity and water temperature in streams, lakes, and other freshwater sources. They're also ideal for monitoring aquifers for saltwater intrusion and road and agricultural run-off.

Key Features

  • Fresh and saltwater models available
  • Non-contact conductivity sensor provides long life and less measurement drift
  • USB optical interface for high-speed, reliable data offload in wet environments
  • Easy access to sensor for cleaning and shedding air bubbles
  • HOBOware Pro software enables start/end-point calibration to compensate for any fouling and provides easy conversion to specific conductance and salinity.

Non-contact water conductivity sensor

The HOBO U24 salinity/conductivity probe features a non-contact conductivity sensor with a titanium pentoxide coating. This coating prevents the sensor from coming in contact with the water, which in turn prevents tarnishing or corrosion associated with traditional electrode sensors. This water conductivity sensor coating is also inert, enabling fouling to be easily wiped off the sensor.
