  4. Vantage Vue Essential for Ground Manager

    Andrew Crawford is a Ground Manager working on behalf of Trinity Fields Trust in Wandsworth. He maintains Trinity Fields for Local Community Clubs, Schools and Independent Prep Schools known as The Consortium, with one assistant, Daniel Alexander, who is currently studying for his NVQ Level 2 in Sportsturf and Amenity from Merrist Wood.

    Andrew required a weather station for recording data and monitoring the weather to provide “a justification tool for works and cancellations” at Trinity Fields. In previous roles Andrew had used weather stations but his requirements were different now as he has no fixed desktop.   5. Vantage Pro2 Weather station in use at Poultry Farm

    J Warner & Son is a family run farming business based in central Shropshire spread over 1500 acres comprising of several different operations including arable, poultry farming and other livestock. The farm has been in operation for three generations growing small quantities of beet and maize for local livestock farmers with their main crops consisting of wheat, oilseed rape and potatoes.

    Edward Warner came to EnviroMonitors to purchase a Vantage Pro2 Weather Station, “We decided we would benefit from a weather station to efficiently record weather patterns”. Edward also knew the weather station information could benefit decision making when applying chemicals to crops.   6. Vantage Pro2 at Hampton School

    Clive Liddiard is the Head Groundsman at Hampton School and is responsible for all external areas including information on closing the school for inclement weather. Clive started in the turfcare sector when working weekends at West Byfleet then joining their full-time team. He has since achieved a Soil Science MSc and improved the facilities offered at Hampton School since his appointment 10 years ago.

    Clive has been using a Davis Vantage Pro2 weather station with solar, UV, soil moisture and leaf wetness sensors with USB WeatherLink data logger at Hampton School since 2007.   7. St Annes Old Links Vantage Pro Weather Station

    St Annes Old Links Golf Club has been established since 1901 on land which since 1886 had been home to the Lytham & St. Anne’s Golf Club. The club is located in the North West of England about a mile from the Royal Lytham Open 2012 venue.

    Stuart Hogg is the Course Manager at St Annes Old Links and has been at the club for over 8 years. Stuart controls the budgets and purchasing of equipment, and has the responsibility of maintaining the greens, fairways and even the car park! The course has 7 full time staff and 4 part time staff depending on the time of year. Stuart started a career in greenkeeping as his “ideal job would be one which he could still play football on a Saturday afternoon!”. He started a Youth Training Scheme job at a championship course local to home and has been developing his knowledge, understanding and skills ever since.

  8. Laboratory of Apiculture and Social Insects

    The Laboratory of Apiculture and Social Insects (LASI) at the University of Sussex is the largest research group in the UK studying honey bees and other social insects the bees, wasps and ants that live in a colony with a queen and workers. LASI research studies the honey bee and other social insects "in the round" addressing both applied and basic questions.

    Their Vantage Pro 2 station was installed after being acquired as part of the Sussex Plan for Honey Bee Health and Well Being. Dr Martyn Stenning, Technician for the University of Sussex' Biology and Environmental Science department and Mr Phil Chitty from the ITS support, installed the meteorological station on the roof of the Laboratory. It is hooked up to a laptop inside the laboratory where it will feed information through on a daily basis. Dr Margaret Couvillon said: "The weather station will provide accurate and up to date information for projects on bee health and will be available for the Sussex community at large".

  9. Hampshire School use a Davis Vantage Pro 2 Professional Weather Station

    Set in 130 acres of private park, including wild gardens and woodland, Hampshire Collegiate School was once the home of Florence Nightingale. Following an investment of over £15m in 2005, facilities on campus include a performing arts centre, a sports hall, science labs and ICT suites, tennis courts and an all-weather hockey facility. The Prep School and Nursery School are on the same site in separate, purpose-built accommodation and offer an exciting curriculum both inside and outside the classroom.

  10. Davis Vantage Pro2 Weather Station in use at Yattendon Estate

    Peter King is the Arable Farm Manager at Yattendon Estate in Berkshire. The estate has practiced “responsible English farming at Yattendon since 1925”. Yattendon Estate is the amalgamation of several smaller estates acquired by the first Lord Lliffe which represents a total of nearly 4000 hectares divided between in-hand farms, let farms, woodlands, christmas tree areas, let smallholdings and grazing land. Crops grown on the land include Wheat, Barley, Oil Seed Rape and Forage Maize Amongst the several farms on the estate is Frilsham Home Farm which is home to 550 Holstein-Friesian dairy cattle and 24 British White cattle.
